SANTA CLARA, Calif. and LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced that Blu-Castle has selected Marvell's award-winning and HomeGrid Forum-certified G.hn chipset to power its products for the Connected Home. Blu-Castle, a leading supplier of residential and business telecommunications equipment, joins the growing list of ODM and OEM partners implementing Marvell's G.hn transceiver into their latest digital home products, accelerating global adoption of the extensible, ITU-T standards-based G.hn technology. G.hn enables fast and powerful connectivity, at data rates up to 1 Gbit/s over standard home wiring, including electrical wires, coaxial cables, twisted pair and optical fiber, for the delivery of multimedia HD content to Smart TVs and devices to power the digital lifestyle.

Blu-Castle's G.hn-enabled Tower-MVG01f product incorporates Marvell's G.hn module, which includes the Marvell® 88LX3142 G.hn digital baseband processor and the Marvell 88LX2718 G.hn analog front end. Currently being deployed by a major European service provider, Blu-Castle's MVG01f product is an ITU-T G.hn standard compliant powerline adapter with filtered pass-through socket that can reach transmission speeds of up to 800Mbps. This makes it one of the most effective Powerline solutions for optimizing the performance of today's home entertainment systems such as multi-streaming Ultra-High Definition (UHD) and 3D video, data, as well as music throughout the home network.
"Bandwidth requirements in the home network are still growing dramatically as new technology provides new content, requiring a constant increase in transmission capacity, which makes Home Networking one of the most exciting markets in telecom and consumer electronics industries," said Harold Fitch, CEO of Blu-Castle. "With G.hn standard reaching maturity, we expect to see a growth in the demand of Home Networking devices. Blu-Castle is thrilled to be able to expand its Home Networking portfolio with the new Tower-MVG01f G.hn powerline based on Marvell's 88LX3142."
The Blu-Castle Tower-MVG01f G.hn adapter includes the following key features:
"Together with our partners, Marvell has been at the forefront of enabling the delivery of multichannel HD content over existing wires throughout the connected home and beyond," said Winston Chen, vice president of the Smart Home Business Unit at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. "We are excited to join forces with Blu-Castle on bringing to market cutting-edge home networking devices based on our award-winning G.hn silicon."
Since its debut in 2011 with the Best Electronic Design Award, Marvell's G.hn silicon has been one of the most mature and robust G.hn silicon solutions on the market and has continued to gain several industry accolades. In April 2012 Marvell's G.hn chipset won a Connected Home Award and in November 2012 Marvell became the first silicon vendor worldwide to achieve the ITU-T G.hn compliant silicon certification from the HomeGrid Forum, paving the way for mass deployments by OEMs of G.hn systems based on the Marvell technology. In May 2013, Marvell G.hn chipset was selected as a Gold Winner in the networking category for 2013 Hot Companies and Best Products Awards by Network Products Guide, the IT industry's leading technology research and advisory guide and in November 2013 was selected as Silver Stevie Winner by the American Business Awards.
Marvell will showcase its award-winning and certified G.hn chipset together with its equipment manufacturer partners during CES, January 7-10, 2014 in Las Vegas, at Murano Rooms 3304-3306 of the Venetian Congress Center, Level 3.
